Public Activity? ActivityPub! - Karlsruhe Iteration 01

Public Activity? ActivityPub! is a campaign to ask public institutions (and groups, collectives, etc.) to join the Fediverse, an alternative to (a)social media platforms which uses the ActivityPub protocol. It is also an opportunity to rethink communication as a common and explore other ways of relating to the digital: While campaigns have been based on a unitary and fixed manifesto one can sign, we propose a many-festo, a federated howl or a dynamic discussion that evolves through local meetings confronting one or more aspects (e.g. technical aspects, variants of the many-festo, design, translations, collecting materials, etc.)

For the first iteration in Entropia, help in thinking and setting up the project's infrastructure would be appreciated (but we can also work in something else): Which kind of collaborators are we addressing and which kind of interactions and workflows are we expecting? After a brief presentation of the campaign (no worries: we will explain what Fediverse and Activity Pub is), we will confront, according to our needs, zest, and capacities, some technical challenges.

Public Activity? ActivityPub! ist eine Kampagne, die öffentliche Institutionen (sowie Gruppen, Kollektive usw.) dazu aufruft, sich dem Fediverse anzuschließen – einer Alternative zu (a)sozialen Medienplattformen, die das ActivityPub-Protokoll nutzt. Es ist auch eine Gelegenheit, Kommunikation als gemeinsames Common neu zu denken und andere Wege der Auseinandersetzung mit dem Digitalen zu erkunden: Während Kampagnen bisher auf einem einheitlichen und feststehenden Manifest basierten, das man unterzeichnen kann, schlagen wir ein „Many-Festo“ vor, einen gemeinsamen Aufschrei oder eine dynamische Diskussion, die sich durch lokale Treffen entwickelt, in denen ein oder mehrere Aspekte thematisiert werden (z. B. technische Aspekte, Varianten des Many-Festo, Design, Übersetzungen, Sammeln von Materialien usw.).

Für die erste Iteration in Entropia wäre Hilfe beim Konzeptionieren und Aufbauen der Projektinfrastruktur sehr willkommen (wir können aber auch an etwas anderem arbeiten): An welche Art von Mitwirkenden richten wir uns und welche Interaktionen und Arbeitsabläufe erwarten wir? Nach einer kurzen Vorstellung der Kampagne (keine Sorge: Wir erklären, was das Fediverse und ActivityPub sind) werden wir uns – je nach unseren Bedürfnissen, Motivation und Fähigkeiten – einigen technischen Herausforderungen stellen.
